There’s a new sheriff in town at General Hospital — two, in fact: incoming headwriters Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahey. And, for one, Nancy Lee Grahn, who has played Alexis since 1996, couldn’t be more stoked.
“For me to be doing this this long and then to feel like, ‘Oh, this is going to be fun!’ that’s pretty great,” she tells Soap Opera Digest. “I think there’s every reason for [viewers] to be encouraged. I just feel that really positive things are happening at General Hospital and that it’s going to be fun for people to watch. I think [Korte and Mulcahey] are a great team.”
We might add that they are also the right duo — nay, the perfect duo — to lead the show into another golden age. They already have a banner opportunity to dig deep with this character. And ABC has voiced its support for its one remaining daytime drama. Disney Television Group prez Craig Erwich recently said, “We’re very committed to the show. You saw the way that we celebrated the 60th [anniversary with a primetime special]. We do that because it’s a show we’re very proud of.”

Dare we hope that the continued success of General Hospital will pave the way for One Life to Live to return (thereby unmaking one of the biggest mistakes in ABC history)?
