General Hospital Spoilers: John J. York Battles Blood Cancer – Video Explains Mac Scorpio’s Hiatus

In a new video, John J. York explained that he was diagnosed with

two blood and bone marrow disorders, considered cancers, in December 2022.

“Over the past many months, I have had three bone marrow biopsies, many chemo treatments –

I have another one coming up in a couple of weeks – and I’m closing in on a blood stem cell transplant,” York said.

York added that he was working with the wonderful people at Be the Match to find a potential donor on their registry.

The GH star invited fans to visit for more info on being a donor for him and thousands of others in need one.

Be the Match also accepts financial donations, so there are other ways to get involved if you’re looking for different opportunities to pitch in.

“I just want to say thanks for all the support over the years. This isn’t goodbye; this is just so long! I’ll have to take a break for at least three, maybe four months, but I’ll be back,” York insisted.

York even did an impression of The Terminator, so it sounds like he’s in good spirits and hasn’t lost his sense of humor despite this tough battle.

Of course, this means Mac Scorpio’ storylines in Port Charles will be put on hold, so we’ll see how that affects the paternity truth that Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) is concealing.

Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) will soon pressure Cody to come clean to his bio dad, so Mac will hopefully find out about their true connection.

However, Mac and Cody may not be able to do any real father-son bonding until sometime down the road.

Regardless, the most important thing is John J. York’s health, so we certainly wish him well as he moves forward with the next phase of his blood cancer treatment.

York promised to keep fans updated, so we’ll be sure to pass along any other significant info he shares on social media.

General Hospital spoilers say some shockers are still to come in Port Charles, so stay tuned to the ABC soap.
