It’s In the Cards: General Hospital’s Charlotte May Be More Dangerous Than We Think
Anna’s had a target on her back on General Hospital for some time now, and theories have been flying fast and furious about who’s behind it. These days, all signs seem to be pointing to Charlotte, and even Valentin’s aware that she’s got a problem with Anna. So naturally he figures it’s a good idea to get a new house and put them all in it together! Yeah, that’s going to go well…
In any case, we’ve gotten to see a bit into Charlotte’s mind and her nightmares that Anna’s going to steal her papa away. If Charlotte is gunning for Anna and set the fire, it’s because she’s scared of being replaced in Valentin’s life. It’s an unhinged, extreme reaction to an understandable childhood fear… but she is a Cassadine. Still, it may not be entirely her fault. Because the end of the September 25th episode made us realize that it could have been a fear that was planted into Charlotte — and is now controlling her!
After all, we can guarantee that her memory of getting a deck of tarot cards was not just some throwaway. Tarot cards have been something of a villainous tradition on General Hospital for a little while. Years ago, Faison and Helena brainwashed and conditioned Drew to do their dirty work. They controlled him with the cards, and after they were gone, Peter and Victor both used them. Peter was successful for a time, but while Victor tried to, by then Drew had freed himself of the conditioning.
The point is, there’s four very nefarious people with incredibly dangerous connections to tarot cards, so what if one of them had conditioned Charlotte for some reason? Finding a motive for Helena or Faison is a bit tricky, other than perhaps as a way to try controlling or spying on Valentin. But when would they have done it and why would she be activated now that they’re (supposedly) dead and turned against Anna?
On the other hand, we know that both Peter and Victor held Charlotte hostage at one point. Peter, in exchange for his life and Victor, in order to keep Valentin under control. Either one of them could have conditioned Charlotte during her captivity, but between the two, Victor seems the most likely culprit. He even bequeathed Sam a deck of cards to help her become “lucky in love.”
He could be using another deck to make sure Valentin was unlucky in it!
But that doesn’t necessarily mean Victor’s back. He could have programmed Charlotte before meeting his demise to get retribution on Valentin and Anna in the event of his death. She could drive the two apart and eventually maybe even try killing Anna. If Charlotte was the one who burned down Anna’s house, she’s definitely dangerous right now.
But it could still get far worse if there are different levels of her programming. Maybe her dream was pushing her towards not just fearing Anna would take papa away from her, but also make her start resenting Valentin for letting it happen.
What do you think? Is Charlotte being controlled to do everything? If so, who do you think’s behind it?
